Excluding Pins and Banks
In v2025.2 and higher you can exclude pins or I/O banks from auto-assignment. The
Exclude tab shows the list of excluded pins. It also has
buttons to clear the setting or add more pins to the exclusion list.
- Right-click on a pin or back and choose Exclude Pin(s) from the pop-up menu. If you have excluded a pin, you can right click and choose Clear Excluded Pin(s) to remove the setting.
- Alternatively, choose the Exclude tab and click Add. In the Add Exclude Pins dialog box, select the pins in the Pin(s) box on the left and click the arrow to move them to the Exclude Pin(s) box on the right. You can include pins by moving them back to the Pin(s) box.
- If a pin has an assignment and you exclude it, the software issues a warning that it will remove the assignment.
- If a pin is excluded, then you cannot change any settings for it, e.g., I/O voltage and standard, and instance assignments.
Note: Be careful when excluding pins that must be used together,
such as differential pairs. If you exclude one of the pins in a pair, the other can
still be used as a GPIO; however, it cannot be used for LVDS because LVDS requires
both pins. Turn on to see which pins are used together for LVDS.
