Target another FPGA

About this task

To change the design to target a different FPGA:

Procedure

  1. Edit the project to change the FPGA, package, and speed grade.
  2. Update the interface design.
    1. Open the Interface Designer. The software prompts you that a device change was detected. Click Update Design. The Interface Designer opens and shows invalid assignments in the Message Viewer.
    2. Open the Resource Assigner.
    3. Click the instance name in the Message Viewer. The software jumps to that assignment in the Resource Assigner. Pick a new resource and press enter.
    4. Continue re-assigning pins until all assignments are valid.
    5. Generate a constraint file and close the Interface Designer.
  3. Compile your modified design.
