Sammy Cheung
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Co-President, Co-Founder
Sammy Cheung is a co-founder of Efinix and has served as our Chief Executive Officer and a member of our board of directors since our founding in September 2012, as our Chairman of the Board since November 2020, and as Co-President since January 2026. He also served as our President from September 2012 to January 2026, and as our Chief Financial Officer from September 2012 to March 2022 and August 2025 to February 2026.
Mr. Cheung has more than 35 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with a background spanning FPGAs, structured ASICs, and non-volatile memory. Prior to co-founding Efinix, Mr. Cheung led the integrated circuit group at Stretch, Inc., a video processing semiconductor company. Before Stretch, Mr. Cheung spent 11 years at Altera Corporation. Mr. Cheung began his career at Cypress Semiconductor Corporation. Mr. Cheung holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
